A group of aggrieved nurses belonging to the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) in the Upper West Region have expressed dissatisfaction with the association’s leadership and a private estate developer, K. Zorre Properties, over delayed land allocations.
The nurses claim they made payments for land in 2020 and 2021. However, despite numerous assurances, they have yet to receive their land documents or lease agreements. Leadership from GRNMA Upper West and K. Zorre Properties had promised that the documents would be ready by February 2025.
Speaking at a press conference in Wa on Saturday, April 19, 2025, the group’s spokesperson, Daud Habib, issued a two-week ultimatum to the GRNMA Upper West leadership and K. Zorre Properties to meet their demands. Failure to do so, he said, would compel the group to explore all available avenues to seek redress.
“While we are prepared to explore all available avenues to meet our demands, we hereby give the leadership of the Upper West GRNMA and K. Zorre Properties a two-week ultimatum, with the date of this press release as the reference point, to meet our demands,” he stated.
The group expressed concerns about the welfare implications of the prolonged delay and vowed not to leave any stone unturned in their quest for justice.

In December 2020, the Upper West chapter of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) advertised lands available for purchase to its members, offering various payment terms and modalities. GRNMA Upper West had engaged a private estate developer, K. Zorre Properties, as a third-party agent to procure the lands.
The property was officially commissioned at Sombo on February 10, 2021, in a ceremony attended by notable stakeholders, including the Upper West Regional Director of Health Services, the Wa Naa, the Member of Parliament for Wa Central, and the GRNMA National President, Madam Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo. The colourful ceremony gave members the assurance that due diligence had been carried out.
A contract document was drafted, and members subscribed by making various payments for different plots of land. However, as work on land demarcation began, it was abruptly halted without any clear communication or explanation to members.

Over time, members grew increasingly sceptical and began questioning the leadership, but their concerns were either ignored or met with unpleasant responses.
In May 2024, the aggrieved members, numbering around 50, wrote to the Upper West leadership of GRNMA in a letter dated May 20, 2024, urgently requesting their lands and/or lease documents.
The letter, which outlined their dissatisfaction, was also copied to the then Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament for Wa Central, the Wa Naa, and the then Regional Director of Health Services.
However, the Upper West GRNMA leadership ignored the letter. When summoned by the Regional Director of Health Services, they falsely claimed that members had not made full payments for the lands in question.
In July 2024, the group formally petitioned the GRNMA National President, Madam Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo. This led to a Zoom meeting in November 2024, during which K. Zorre Properties assured the affected nurses that those who had completed their payments would receive their lands by the end of February 2025—a promise that has yet to materialize.
