𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗵 : 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗡𝗔𝗗𝗠𝗢 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵

Oppong Amponsah Esther, a trailblazer in her field, is the first female Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for the Western North Region.

Born in 1981 in Nkatieso, nestled within the Juaboso District, Esther Oppong Amponsah has emerged as a distinguished figure in public service. With an impressive background spanning health, emergency management, and public health promotion, she brings unmatched expertise and leadership to her role as Regional NADMO Director.

In this capacity, she spearheads strategic efforts in disaster preparedness and response, playing an instrumental role in safeguarding lives and enhancing resilience across the Western North Region.

Her academic qualifications demonstrate her commitment to excellence and professional growth. Esther is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Health Policy, Planning, and Management at the Catholic University of Ghana, which she began in 2024.

Prior to this, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a specialization in Health Promotion from the same institution in 2023.

In addition, she completed an Executive Course in Monitoring and Evaluation in Global Health from the University of Washington in April 2023, further enhancing her expertise in health systems and management.

Esther’s career trajectory reflects her dedication to healthcare and community development. Her professional journey began with training as an Enrolled Nurse at Premier Nurses’ Training College in 2006.

Over the years, she has gained invaluable experience working at several healthcare institutions, including the Asawinso S.D.A. Hospital and Namong S.D.A. Hospital, where she served as an Enrolled Nurse.

She also worked as a Health Promotion Officer at various health directorates, including the Essam and Juaboso District Health Directorates, where she contributed to health initiatives as part of her National Service in 2023.

Until her appointment, Esther served as the Head of Facility and Health Promotion Officer at the Nkatieso S.D.A. Clinic since 2019.

Esther’s journey is a testament to her resilience, dedication, and commitment to making a positive impact in the fields of public health and disaster management.

As the first female to hold the position of Regional NADMO Director in the Western North Region, she continues to inspire women in leadership and public service, setting a remarkable example for future generations of professionals in Ghana.
