The Savannah Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Nuhu Mumuni, a prime suspect in the robbery and murder of Benjamin Apuri, a mobile money vendor, which occurred on March 3, 2025, in Pwalugu, Upper East Region.
According to the Savannah Regional Police Commander, COP Samuel Alfred Winful, Mumuni was apprehended on April 8, 2025, at his hideout in Mankarigu, located in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The operation was successfully carried out by the Savannah Regional Police Operations Team.
Police investigations revealed that Mumuni and his accomplices were involved in the fatal shooting of Apuri during a violent robbery, making away with an undisclosed sum of money.
Mumuni had been on the Upper East Regional Police’s wanted list prior to his arrest.
Authorities believe that Mumuni’s arrest is a major breakthrough in the case and could lead to the arrest of other suspects involved in the crime.
