Former Juaboso DCE Joins NPP WNR 2nd Vice Chairman Race, Promises Grassroots Revival

Former Juaboso District Chief Executive (DCE), Godfred Kwabena Adjei Asante, has entered the contest for the position of 2nd Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western North Region, pledging to revive grassroots mobilisation and strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Mr. Asante, who successfully passed the party’s regional executive vetting held on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Sefwi Wiawso, will appear as number one on the ballot paper for the 2nd Vice Chairman race.

Speaking exclusively to Sefwinews after the vetting process, the former Juaboso DCE said his decision to contest was based on his desire to use his years of political experience and grassroots leadership to rebuild the party from the constituency level upward.

According to him, the NPP needs a strong grassroots foundation and strategic organisation to regain parliamentary seats lost in the region, particularly the Sefwi Wiawso constituency, ahead of the 2028 elections.

“I have served the party from the grassroots as an Assemblyman, Presiding Member, 1st Vice Chairman, Chairman, and District Chief Executive in Juaboso. I wish to translate this experience to help build the party and ensure that the NPP returns to power in 2028,” he said.

Mr. Asante, who has held various leadership positions within the party, highlighted his contribution to the growth of the NPP in Juaboso during his tenure as 1st Vice Chairman.

He expressed confidence that with unity, discipline, and proper mobilisation strategies, the NPP can capture the Juaboso and Sefwi Wiawso parliamentary seats.

“I am a grassroots person, and with this position, we can strategically reclaim these two seats,” he added.

The former DCE also called on party members to remain united after the regional executive elections, stressing that internal contests should not create divisions among members.

“When one loses an election, it should not take him away from the party. When one wins, contestants should be brought together so we can join forces to make the NPP stronger,” he advised.

Mr. Asante appealed to delegates to support his candidature, promising to bring his experience, commitment, and grassroots understanding to the position of 2nd Vice Chairman to help build a stronger NPP in the Western North Region.
