The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Burniton Music Group, Vida Adutwumwaa, has questioned King Promiseโs chances of winning the Artiste of the Year award at the forthcoming 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
During a debate with King Promiseโs PRO, Tilly Akua Nipaa, on April 18, 2025, Vida Adutwumwaa argued that the โTerminatorโ hitmaker has not done enough to deserve the top spot at this yearโs awards.
She emphasized that, despite being a dancehall artisteโa genre with fewer mainstream acts in GhanaโStonebwoy has remained relevant and consistent over the years.
โYou claimed Stonebwoy is retrogressing based on a comparison of his numbers from previous years to now. But I ask you the same: King Promiseโs numbers from last year to this year have also dropped, so does that mean heโs regressing too?
โThe fact that Stonebwoy has upheld the dancehall genre in Ghana for over 10 years, a genre not widely pursued, is a clear sign that heโs doing well,โ she stated.
Vida also alleged that King Promise performed only 10 shows in 2024.
โKing Promise played just 10 shows in 2024. Now compare that to the number of live band performances Stonebwoy delivered. Thatโs not the sign of an artiste whoโs falling off,โ she concluded.
