The Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western North Region, Harry Addo, has expressed concern over reports of political victimization targeting individuals perceived to be affiliated with the party in various government institutions.
According to him, there have been increasing complaints from public sector workers in the Local Government Service, Health Directorate, Education Directorate, and some Senior High Schools about alleged harassment and unfair treatment by certain heads of departments.
These leaders are reportedly frustrating staff they suspect to be NPP sympathizers, creating a hostile work environment.
Speaking on De-Beat FM, the NPP’s Western North Regional Communication Director, Addo Yaw Harry, cautioned these heads of departments against politically motivated victimization, emphasizing that public service institutions should operate with professionalism and neutrality.
“We acknowledge the role of institutions in ensuring discipline and efficiency, but such actions should not be driven by political bias. Targeting individuals based on their political affiliation is unacceptable and undermines the integrity of public service,” he stated.
He further warned that should these practices continue, there could be consequences in the future if there is a change in government.
He reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to fairness and professionalism and urged all stakeholders to promote an inclusive and non-discriminatory working environment in public institutions.
“The NPP remains committed to fairness, professionalism, and respect for public service institutions.”
“We call on all stakeholders to ensure that government agencies operate without political bias and treat all Ghanaians equally, regardless of political affiliation,” he stated.
Concluding his remarks, he referenced a song by reggae artist Culture, “Writing on the Wall,” suggesting that the NPP is taking note of all individuals involved in such acts of victimization.
