The newly elected 1st Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bia West Constituency, Collins Obeng, is set to launch a campaign aimed at changing the long-standing political perception of the area and promoting development-focused politics.
The campaign, which is themed “BIA FOR DEVELOPMENT: CHANGING THE NARRATIVE, BUILDING OUR FUTURE,” seeks to challenge the decades-old belief that Bia West is exclusively aligned with one political party.
For many years, the statement “Bia is for NDC” has been associated with the constituency.
However, Collins Obeng, popularly known as Dinpa, believes the focus of the people should shift from political tradition to development and progress.
In a press statement issued on Monday, July 20, Collins Obeng said Bia West belongs to everyone and should not be tied to any political party.
“Bia belongs to all of us. Bia belongs to the farmer, the teacher, the trader, the youth, and the chief. Bia does not belong to any political party. Bia belongs to whoever will develop Bia,” he stated.
As part of efforts to change the narrative, the Office of the 1st Vice Chairman has outlined a three-pillar strategy — Proof, Presence, and Pride — to strengthen the party’s connection with residents and highlight its contributions to the constituency.
PROOF
Under the Proof pillar, the office plans to embark on monthly tours to showcase government projects and initiatives in the constituency, including roads, schools, health facilities, and youth empowerment programmes. Beneficiaries of government interventions will also be given the opportunity to share their experiences.
PRESENCE
The Presence pillar will focus on improving engagement between party executives and the people. According to Collins Obeng Dinpa, NPP executives must be visible in communities, markets, churches, festivals, and social gatherings to listen and understand the concerns of residents.
“For too long, NPP executives have not been seen in our markets, churches, and communities. We will listen more than we talk,” he said.
PRIDE
The third pillar, Pride, seeks to encourage members, particularly young people and women, to confidently identify with the party through a campaign dubbed “I AM NPP, I AM BIA.”
A CALL TO UNITY
Collins Obeng also called for unity among party members, extending a hand of friendship to his former contender and all NPP supporters to work together for the progress of the party.
“The contest is over. The work has started. We need everyone. Bia West needs everyone,” he added.
He further urged the youth to take an active role in shaping the future of the party, stressing that they are not only the future but an important part of the present leadership.
“You are not the future of NPP. You are the NOW of NPP,” he said.
Collins Obeng expressed confidence that through unity, visibility, and a renewed commitment to development, the NPP can build a stronger foundation towards victory in the 2028 general elections.
