Asante Kooko head coach Eric Tikler has emphasised that his team will not get carried away by their win against Hearts of Oak in the 2026 Democracy Cup.
According to him, his side is still a work in progress and must continue working hard to get to their best.
The coach was impressed by the performance of his players on Friday as they defeated Hearts of Ok 4-1 on penalties to claim their second Democracy Cup title.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Tinkler raised concern about the team’s failure to convert the many chances they created.
He believes that must change before the new football season officially commences if Kotoko want to win trophies.
“I’m proud of the team, but I think we are still a work in progress. We had more than 20 box entries, but we didn’t capitalise on them, so we need to work on that. We are creating chances, but we need to put them in the back of the net,” Tinkler said.
Despite his concern about goal scoring, the South African tactician praised his players for how well they dealt with Hearts of Oak on the matchday.
