Ghana’s cybersecurity industry is warning that the country does not have enough trained professionals to keep pace with the growing sophistication of cyber threats, as criminals increasingly reuse successful attack methods across different sectors.
Interim President of the Ghana Cybersecurity Industry Forum, C.K. Bruce, says the shortage of skilled professionals remains one of the biggest challenges confronting the country’s digital security ecosystem.
Speaking at the Forum’s 2026 press conference, Mr Bruce said Ghana needs a deliberate and continuous pipeline of people entering the cybersecurity profession, describing it as one of the fields where qualified entrants can secure jobs relatively quickly.
“We do not have enough people,” he said, stressing that increasing the numbers alone will not be enough unless new entrants are adequately prepared to work effectively within the industry.
Mr Bruce also warned that cybercriminals are becoming increasingly adaptive, often taking attack methods that succeed in one sector and applying them elsewhere.
According to him, stronger collaboration among institutions will therefore be critical, particularly as the same threats increasingly cut across industries.
Another emerging concern, Mr Bruce said, is the use of artificial intelligence by cybercriminals.
He noted that poorly written messages once made some phishing attacks relatively easy to identify, but criminals are now using AI tools to improve the language and presentation of fraudulent messages, making them more convincing.
He said this means public awareness campaigns must continue to evolve alongside the methods being adopted by criminals.
The Ghana Cybersecurity Industry Forum is therefore pushing for stronger cyber hygiene, anti-phishing awareness and greater public-private collaboration as part of efforts to improve digital trust.
