St. Joseph Senior High School has emerged champions of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Western North Regional Inter-School Quiz Competition, defeating Awaso STEM Senior High School and Bibiani Senior High Technical School in a closely contested final.

The competition, held at Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School, saw St. Joseph SHS secure 73 points to claim the championship, narrowly beating Awaso STEM SHS, which finished second with 70 points, while Bibiani SHTS placed third with 39 points.

The three-point difference between the top two schools reflected the competitive nature of the final, as contestants demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of the National Health Insurance Scheme and related health issues.

For their outstanding performance, St. Joseph SHS received a cash prize of GH₵3,000, with each contestant receiving a certificate of participation and the school also receiving a certificate.

First runners-up, Awaso STEM SHS, took home GH₵2,000, while Bibiani SHTS received GH₵1,000 for placing third. Contestants from both schools were also awarded individual certificates, alongside certificates presented to their respective schools.

Beyond the competition, the initiative formed part of the NHIA’s efforts to educate students on the importance of health insurance, including its benefits, registration procedures, membership renewal and role in improving access to affordable healthcare.

It also sought to encourage students to become advocates for health insurance awareness in their schools and communities.
