Jerome K. Sam, Esq., is seeking re-election as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Western North Regional Communication Officer, banking on more than a decade of experience in party communication, grassroots mobilisation, electoral organisation and campaign coordination.
His political journey, which began in 2010, reflects years of involvement in the party’s organisational structures, from branch-level leadership in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency to regional communication leadership in the Western North Region and national campaign responsibilities.
Over the years, Sam has held several positions within the NDC, contributing to its communication strategy, grassroots engagement and electoral campaigns, particularly in the Western North Region.
Early Political Involvement and Grassroots Organisation
Sam’s involvement in active party politics dates back to 2010, when he began serving as Branch Organiser for Asuogya South in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, a position he held until 2014.
During his four years in the role, he gained experience in grassroots party organisation, membership mobilisation and the coordination of activities at the branch level.
His early political involvement also extended to electoral operations. During the 2012 General Elections, he served as a Polling Agent at Pentecost Church A, Asuogya South, where he participated in the party’s electoral processes at the polling station level.
The experience provided him with practical exposure to election-day activities and the organisational responsibilities involved in safeguarding the party’s interests during elections.
Building a Career in Party Communication
Sam’s transition into party communication began at the constituency level, where he served as Deputy Constituency Communication Officer for Sefwi Wiawso from 2014 to 2015.
He subsequently assumed the position of Constituency Communication Officer, serving from 2015 to 2018.
In these roles, he was involved in communicating the party’s messages, articulating its political positions and contributing to public engagement on issues affecting the constituency.
His communication responsibilities were not limited to the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency. Between 2009 and 2019, he served as a member of the Western Regional Communication Team, while also contributing to the Ashanti Regional Communication Team from 2009 to 2011.
These engagements exposed him to communication activities across different regional political environments and provided opportunities to develop his understanding of political messaging, public discourse and party communication.
At the national level, Sam has been a member of the NDC National Communication Team since 2018, contributing to the party’s broader communication activities.
His participation in the national communication structure represents an important stage in his political career, extending his involvement beyond constituency and regional assignments.
Leadership in Western North Regional Communication
He served as Regional Communication Officer, with his record indicating periods of service from 2019 to 2022 and from 2022 to date.
He has also served as Head of the Regional Communication Team and Secretary of the Regional Communication Committee, with both positions dating from 2019 to date.
These responsibilities have placed him within the party’s regional communication leadership, where coordination, information dissemination and the articulation of the party’s positions form important aspects of the role.
His involvement in the regional communication structure has also coincided with two major election cycles, the 2020 and 2024 General Elections.
During both election campaigns, Sam served as the Western North Regional Campaign Team Spokesperson, representing the party’s campaign communication structure in the region.
The assignments placed him in a strategic communication role during periods of intense political competition, when effective messaging, public engagement and the communication of campaign positions were central to the party’s electoral activities.
His contributions and efforts during the 2024 campaign helped the NDC secure victory in the 2024 General Elections.
Parliamentary Ambition and Political Leadership
Beyond his communication and organisational responsibilities, Sam has also demonstrated an interest in parliamentary representation.
In 2023, he contested as a parliamentary aspirant in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, seeking the opportunity to represent the NDC in the constituency’s parliamentary contest.
His decision to enter the parliamentary race marked another dimension of his political involvement, moving beyond party communication and organisational assignments into the pursuit of an elected political position.
Although his political activities have largely centred on party organisation and communication, the parliamentary ambition reflected his interest in contributing to political leadership and representation at the constituency level.
National Campaign Assignment
Sam’s political responsibilities have also extended to the national campaign structure of the NDC.
Between 2023 and 2024, he served as Social Media Aide to the then Running Mate of the party, H.E. Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
The appointment placed him within the digital communication structure supporting the then running mate during the period leading up to the 2024 General Elections.
His responsibilities in this capacity formed part of the party’s wider efforts to communicate its campaign messages through digital platforms and engage supporters and the general public.
The assignment also added a national campaign dimension to his experience, building on his previous work in constituency and regional communication.
Founder of Young Democrat and Dynamic Ladies
In addition to his formal party positions, Jerome K. Sam is the founder of Young Democrat and Dynamic Ladies, a pressure group established to mobilise votes for the NDC in the Western North Region.
The initiative reflects his interest in grassroots political mobilisation and the involvement of organised groups in supporting the party’s electoral objectives.
Through the formation of the group, Sam has sought to provide an additional platform for political engagement and mobilisation in the region, complementing the activities of the party’s established organisational structures.
The initiative also forms part of his broader political activities outside his official communication assignments.
A Bid for Another Mandate
With over a decade of political experience and a track record spanning grassroots mobilisation, constituency communication, regional leadership and national campaign assignments, Jerome K. Sam, Esq., is seeking a renewed mandate as the NDC Western North Regional Communication Officer.
His bid for re-election is underpinned by years of active involvement in the party’s communication machinery, having served in various capacities and played roles in successive electoral campaigns. From the constituency level to the national communication front, Sam’s political journey has been closely tied to the NDC’s messaging, organisation and campaign activities.
Now seeking another term, Sam is placing his extensive party experience, institutional knowledge and years of service at the centre of his campaign, with a renewed commitment to the communication responsibilities of the Western North Region.
