Sefwi Wiawso, the capital of the Western North Region, is set to host the second edition of the Cocoa City Festival from November 28 to December 5, 2026, with eight days of culture, entertainment, business and community activities.
The Cocoa City Festival was initiated in 2025 under the leadership of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dominic Gyasi, and the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, Kofi Benteh Afful, as part of efforts to promote the municipality’s cultural heritage, tourism, business opportunities and community development.

The eight-day festival promises to bring the municipality alive with colourful cultural displays, traditional celebrations, live music, sporting activities and business exhibitions, attracting residents, tourists, investors and indigenes from across Ghana and the diaspora.
More than just a festival, the Cocoa City Festival seeks to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Sefwi Wiawso while promoting tourism, entrepreneurship, investment and community development.
It also provides an opportunity to showcase the municipality’s identity as an important commercial centre in Ghana’s cocoa-growing belt.
The celebration will officially begin on Saturday, November 28, with a colourful float through the principal streets of Sefwi Wiawso, a community football gala and health screening activities, setting the tone for eight days of excitement.

On November 29, the festival will feature a homecoming celebration and live band entertainment, offering sons and daughters of Sefwi Wiawso living elsewhere an opportunity to reconnect with their roots, reunite with family and friends, and experience the warmth of their hometown.
Attention will shift to the economic importance of cocoa on November 30, when a Cocoa Symposium takes place. The event will provide a platform for discussions around the crop that has shaped the livelihoods, history and economic identity of communities across the Western North Region.
One of the festival’s major highlights will be the Sefwi Wiawso Business Forum and Exhibition on December 1, which will feature business pitching and exhibitions.
The programme is expected to create opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors and business owners to network, showcase their products and explore partnerships that could contribute to local economic growth.
Activities will continue on December 2 with site visits, an interschool cultural competition and a MoMo exhibition, while December 3 will feature quiz and art competitions designed to encourage creativity, knowledge and talent among participants.
The festival will reach another exciting stage on December 4, with a grand durbar, traditional food bazaar and the Miss Cocoa City Fest competition.
The occasion will bring traditional leadership, culture and entertainment together while celebrating the unique traditions and delicacies of the Sefwi people.

The the football grand finale on December 5 promises an unforgettable experience alongside with the Bomtro (Elluo Celebration), a colourful street carnival, artist performances and a children’s funfair, bringing the eight-day celebration to a memorable close.
Beyond the entertainment, the Cocoa City Festival presents an important opportunity to position Sefwi Wiawso as an attractive destination for tourism and investment.
Local businesses, food vendors, artisans and hospitality operators will have the opportunity to benefit from increased commercial activities while showcasing the municipality’s economic potential.

The festival is supported by MTN Ghana and MTN Mobile Money (MoMo), with media partnerships involving Uniik 101.1 FM, Liberty FM 92.7 FM, Beat 95.5 FM, Faith 98.7 FM and Sefwinews.
These partnerships are expected to strengthen publicity, expand audience engagement and promote the festival’s activities to audiences across the Western North Region and beyond.
For the people of Sefwi Wiawso, the festival represents more than eight days of celebration. It is an opportunity to strengthen community bonds, preserve cultural identity, encourage investment and inspire a shared vision for the municipality’s future.
As preparations gather momentum, residents, visitors, businesses and people from the diaspora are encouraged to be part of what promises to be a memorable celebration of culture, unity and opportunity.
