The Western North Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Michael Aidoo, has emphasized that they will ensure every vote is safeguarded in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
He voiced concerns that the NPP (New Patriotic Party) may attempt to manipulate the election results in their favor but asserted their determination to resist such actions.
Addressing the press, Michael Aidoo underscored the importance of Ghanaians voting against the NPP government.
He further expressed skepticism about the promises made by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia, suggesting that these promises had not been fulfilled.
He particularly criticized slogans like “one constituency, one million dollars,” “one village, one dam,” “one district, one factory,” and others, describing them as empty messages.
Michael Aidoo also highlighted pressing issues such as higher inflation rates, rising fuel prices, economic hardships, a struggling education system, and called for urgent attention from the current NPP administration, rather than what he perceived as false claims and propaganda from Bawumia.
Known as “Big Aidoo” and a contractor, he questioned the potential impact of Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy as the NPP’s flag-bearer, asserting that it wouldn’t bring about significant change.
He stated, “Dr. Bawumia has nothing new to offer Ghanaians. He can change the system if indeed he is a competent leader. I want to tell Ghanaians that all votes will be counted and protected in the 2024 polls. The NPP has failed woefully, so they want to use dubious means to rig the elections, but we won’t allow that. We are on higher alert.”
In addition, Michael Aidoo called on Ghanaians to refrain from drawing comparisons between Dr. Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama, emphasizing that there are significant differences between the two.
He asserted that Mahama’s achievements in the country’s political history are unparalleled.
“We all know Dr. Bawumia to be a chronic liar. Ghanaians have caught up with his lies and he can no longer deceive anyone. Let’s stop the unparalleled comparison because John Mahama has done far better than Bawumia, and Ghanaians are aware of that.”
