Soccer Lions shock Sefwi All Stars at Asafo Ramos Park

Soccer Lions held Division One League side Sefwi All Stars to a 1-1 draw at Asafo Ramos Park in a friendly match on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

The game started with Sefwi All Stars taking control early on. Their efforts paid off when Eric Badu delivered a precise low pass to Patrick Odoom, who slotted the ball home to give the hosts an early lead.

However, Soccer Lions responded swiftly. Just six minutes later, Kingsley Arthur converted a penalty to equalize for the visitors, bringing the score to 1-1.

The remainder of the first half saw Sefwi All Stars making several incursions into the Lions’ territory, but they were consistently thwarted by the outstanding performance of Soccer Lions defense, most especially goalkeeper Johnson Gyamfi.

After the break, Soccer Lions upped their game, creating several promising opportunities, but were unable to capitalize.

Similarly, Sefwi All Stars had their share of chances but failed to breakthrough, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

The draw leaves Sefwi All Stars with lessons to ponder as they prepare to host Nzema Kotoko in their week 28 fixture of the Access Bank Division One League at Asafo Ramos Park on Sunday, May 26.

Meanwhile, Soccer Lions will continue their preparations for the Super Middle League, traveling to Nana Kofi Asare Park to face Adjoafuaman in their third pre-league friendly.
