USAID/Ghana organizes workshop for Service Delivery Stakeholders in Western North

The United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has organized a Regional Sensitization Workshop to familiarize local service delivery stakeholdersin the Western North Region with its flagship initiative, the ‘Ghana Performance Accountability Activity’.

The Performance Accountability Activity (PAA), a five-year Activityfunded by USAID, supports local organizations, women and youth groups, and traditional and religious leaders in advocating for improved public service delivery.

It also enhances the responsiveness of service providers to citizens’ demands for quality essential services, particularly in basic education, health, water and sanitation, agriculture, and fisheries.

PAA is implemented by Democracy International (DI) in close collaboration with the Government of Ghana partners and local CSOs, including the Community Change Alliance-Ghana (ComCA Ghana). Community Change Alliance-Ghana (ComCA Ghana) is a PAA sub-awardee, leading activity implementation in the Western North.

Addressing attendees at the launch, the PAA Deputy Chief of Party, Linda Ofori-Kwafo, emphasized the project’s core objectives, stating, “The project will enhance the capacity of Government partners, including sector agencies, district assemblies, CSOs, and community-based organizations, to implement behavior-led capacity-building and institutional strengthening interventions.”

During the Regional Sensitization Workshop, ComCA Ghana facilitated an open discussion to introduce the PAA to key stakeholders, encourage their participation and buy-in to the PAA’s key activities, identify opportunities, anticipate potential barriers, and explore strategies to overcome these barriers.

The workshop convened various participants including representatives from Regional Coordinating Councils, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies, CSOs, community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, influential leaders, and representatives from Democracy International.
