Daniel Duku, the Assembly Member of Ankra-Muano, a community within the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality in the Western North Region, has made an urgent appeal to the government for the repair of a critical footbridge that links major farmlands in the area.
Daniel Duku expressed his deep concern over the current state of the footbridge, which has been severely damaged, leading to significant disruptions in farming activities.
The assembly member highlighted that the inability to transport cocoa beans and other foodstuffs due to the ruined bridge has resulted in substantial losses, with many produce left to rot.
“This is very worrying. The only footbridge linking all our farmlands has broken. This has seriously affected our farming activities. We are appealing to the government and perhaps NGOs to come to our aid,” Duku stated.
He also mentioned that despite several appeals to the municipal authorities for assistance, their efforts have been fruitless.
The continued inaction has placed a heavy burden on the community, with farming and related businesses coming to a halt.
“We have made several appeals to the authorities, but to no avail. We are calling for support since we cannot go to our farms, and all our businesses have become stalled,” Daniel Duku concluded.
