Audio: We will improve Boinzan Waterfalls to benefit the nation – Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang

Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2024 general elections, has pledged that an NDC next government will prioritize the development of the Boinzan Waterfalls in the Western North Region.

This commitment was made in response to a request from Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, Chief of Sefwi Boinzan, during the climax of the 2024 Elluo Festival.

During the festival, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, who also serves as the Krontihene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, appealed to the NDC leadership to include the development of the Boinzan Waterfalls in their agenda if they come into power.

He highlighted the potential of the waterfalls to become a major tourist attraction, which would significantly enhance the economic prospects of the local community.

“We have a beautiful waterfall in our community, and I am appealing to your next government to develop it. If turned into an attractive tourist site, it would improve the economic prospects of our people,” Nana Ofori Ahenkan II stated.

In her response, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang acknowledged the natural beauty and value of the waterfall, emphasizing that it is the nation’s responsibility to protect and develop such resources.

She noted that the Boinzan Waterfalls, if properly developed, could serve not only as a tourist site but also as an educational site.

“Ghana is blessed with many natural resources, and it is our duty to protect and develop them. A waterfall is a beautiful natural edifice, and with the right arrangements in place, its development could bring significant benefits to the public,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang promised that, if elected, their government will take the necessary steps to develop the waterfalls for the nation’s benefit.

“This isn’t a huge request, and if God permits, we will make the necessary arrangements to develop the waterfalls for the benefit of the nation,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured.
