GPL: The title race is not over for Bibiani Goldstars – Frimpong Manso

Bibiani Goldstars head coach Frimpong Manso remains optimistic about his team’s Ghana Premier League title aspirations despite a recent defeat to Legon Cities.

Speaking after the match, Coach Manso highlighted the team’s grueling schedule and emphasized their resilience.

“We’ve been trekking for almost three weeks. At the FA Cup, we went to Basake, then to Sogakope, and now we’ve come here. We’ve played three matches and won two of them, so for me, I don’t see this as a disappointment,” Manso said.

The coach admitted that the team struggled in the first half, which proved costly.

“We didn’t play well in the first half, and that was our problem. By the time we improved in the second half, it was too late. The few chances we created, we couldn’t capitalize on. But I’m not worried at all,” he added.

Coach Frimpong Manso firmly dismissed suggestions that the defeat signals the end of their title hopes.

“This doesn’t mean everything is over. No, not at all. I told my boys that if we want to compete in the second half of the season, we need to double up. We can’t play like we did in the first round.”

He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to contend for the league title, noting their commitment to stepping up their performance. “Now, we’re aiming to win the league. Yes, we’ve lost a game, but we haven’t lost the league.”

Reflecting on the match against Legon Cities, Manso acknowledged defensive lapses and the need for improvement.

“We gave too much space to the opponent. In the second half, we brought energy and performed to the best of our ability, but we had already given them too much respect earlier. We need to learn from this,” he said.
