Nana Ofori Ahenkan II appeals for the development of Boinzan Waterfalls

Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, the Chief of Sefwi Boinzan and Kontihene of the Sehwi Wiawso Traditional Area, has made a passionate appeal to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited, Prof. Kobby Mensah, to prioritize the development of the Boinzan Waterfall.

The Waterfall is situated in Sefwi Boinzan in the Juaboso District in Western North Region.

However, despite its natural beauty and potential, the site remains underdeveloped and lacks the necessary infrastructure to position it as a prime tourist destination.

Nana Ofori Ahenkan II is, therefore, urging Prof. Kobby Mensah, a native of Sefwi land, to play a key role in transforming the waterfall into a fully developed tourist attraction.

During a recent address, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II emphasized that the enhancement of the Boinzan Waterfall would not only boost tourism in the region but also create significant socio-economic benefits.

He outlined three major reasons why its development is crucial:

✔ Economic Growth â€“ By attracting both local and international tourists, the waterfall can generate employment opportunities for the youth, create new businesses, and stimulate economic growth in the community.

✔ Tourism Attraction â€“ Developing the site will position Western North Region as a major tourism hub, drawing visitors who wish to experience the beauty of Ghana’s natural landscape.

✔ Educational Benefits â€“ A well-developed waterfall will serve as an educational site for students. Currently, many schoolchildren in the region must travel long distances to see a waterfall, but an enhanced Boinzan Waterfall would provide them with an accessible and enriching learning experience.

Background of the Boinzan Waterfall

The Boinzan Waterfall was discovered in 2019 by the people of Sefwi Boinzan. Since its discovery, local residents and traditional leaders have taken steps to maintain and promote the site.

However, financial constraints and the lack of investor support have stalled further development. To fully harness the potential of the waterfall, significant investment is needed to construct roads, visitor facilities, and other necessary tourism infrastructure.

Appeal to Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited

Nana Ofori Ahenkan II is appealing to Prof. Kobby Mensah and other stakeholders in the tourism sector to support the transformation of the Boinzan Waterfall.

He believes that, with the right investment, the site can become a major attraction, not just for Western North Region but for the entire country.

He also called on government agencies, corporate bodies, and private investors to collaborate in making this vision a reality.

The people of Sefwi Boinzan and the entire Western North Region are eager to see this landmark developed into a thriving tourism centre that will benefit future generations.

The chief expressed optimism that Prof. Kobby Mensah, given his deep ties to Sefwi land, will heed the call and champion the effort to develop the Boinzan Waterfall into a world-class tourist destination.
