Sefwi Native’s Guinness World Record attempt hindered by financial crisis

Isaac Amoako, a Sefwi native with ambitious dreams of setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest reading-aloud marathon, is encountering a daunting financial challenge mere days before the scheduled attempt.

The attempt is expected to take place at the National Children’s and Mobile Library in Accra between 5th March and 12th March 2024, providing a unique opportunity to highlight the importance of literacy and cultural preservation.

According to sources close to Amoako, despite his diligent efforts to secure support, including reaching out to Members of Parliament in the Western North Region, he has faced disappointing responses.

Many MPs have reportedly not responded to his proposals, leaving him without the crucial backing needed for his endeavour.

Amoako, who aims to showcase his culture and language on a global stage, is faced with the burden of covering significant expenses amounting to GH₵40,000. These expenses include essential components such as TV coverage, medical support, and other logistical needs vital for the success and safety of the attempt.

Adding to the challenge, corporate entities in Accra have been largely unresponsive to his appeals for sponsorship, with influential figures failing to step forward to champion his cause.

The situation has left Isaac Amoako disheartened, especially considering his aspiration to promote and preserve his native language and culture.

Despite his determination to bring glory to Sefwi through his achievement, the lack of support from his community and beyond has cast a shadow over his endeavour.

In light of these obstacles, advocates are rallying support for Amoako, emphasizing the significance of backing a local talent striving to make a mark on the global stage.

They urge individuals and organizations to come forward and extend a helping hand to ensure that Amoako’s dream becomes a reality.

Amidst the challenges, there remains hope that collective support can uplift Isaac Amoako and propel him towards success.

For those rooting for him, the message is clear: supporting Isaac Amoako is not just about aiding an individual’s quest for a world record; it’s about celebrating the spirit of Sefwi and its rich cultural heritage.
