Western North Islamic Community calls for establishment of Islamic University and SHS

The Western North Regional Islamic community has appealed for the establishment of an Islamic University and Senior High School (SHS) in the region to enhance educational opportunities for their children.

This appeal was made during the visit of Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to the regional capital, Sefwi Wiawso, as part of his campaign tour.

The call was made by the Sefwi Boako Chief Imam, Bashiru Gabo, speaking on behalf of the Western North Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Ahmed Adam.

He emphasized the need for an Islamic SHS and University to provide better education for their children, noting the financial difficulties parents face in sending their wards to other regions for education.

Bashiru Gabo highlighted the importance of the Islamic SHS and appealed to the Vice President to provide scholarships for students to study in Cuba and to bring professionals to help their communities and Ghana at large.

In response, Vice President Bawumia expressed his commitment to establishing the Islamic SHS.

He stated that he would consult with the Zongo Development Fund and the Ministry of Education for the necessary support to make the institution a reality.

He also mentioned that the clergy in the region had proposed the idea of an Islamic University to him, and he would work to secure it if re-elected.

NPP Western North Regional Chairman, Benjamin Armah, urged the Muslim community to support and vote for Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, promising that his government would bring more developmental projects and social policies to benefit everyone in the region.
