“Youth must step into politics to drive development” – Chief of Boinzan

Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, the Chief of Sefwi Boinzan and Krontihene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, has called on the youth in the Western North Region to take a more active role in politics and aspire to leadership positions.

Speaking to ‘The Legend Tv’, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II stressed the importance of youth engagement in politics, highlighting that Ghana’s democracy thrives on the active involvement of its citizens, especially the younger generation.

He pointed out that development in the country is largely driven by political leaders who advocate for progress in their regions and constituencies.

Despite the significant role youth can play in shaping the future, Nana noted that many young people in the Western North Region are hesitant to enter the political scene, often due to fear and lack of confidence.

He encouraged them to overcome these barriers, emphasizing that meaningful development in the region is only possible if the youth actively participate in politics.

Nana Ofori Ahenkan II pointed to the example of Dr. Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, who, despite his youthful age, has made notable contributions to his region through his political involvement.

He urged senior politicians to serve as mentors to the younger generation, helping to cultivate an environment where youth can confidently step into leadership roles.

Nana Ofori Ahenkan II further stressed that creating opportunities for the youth, rather than intimidating them, would not only help them grow but also accelerate the development of the region and the nation as a whole.
