Accra Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been gifted a brand-new Hyundai Elantra by Mugabe Maase, a popular political show host with XYZ Media and General Manager of Power FM. The presentation took place today, Tuesday, May 7, 2025, in Accra.
The car gift follows Asare’s impressive debut for the Black Stars in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where he kept two clean sheets against Chad and Madagascar.
His commanding performances have earned him praise as a promising asset to Ghana’s national team.
The gesture also comes in the wake of a viral video circulating on social media, which showed Asare seated in the front of a trotro (commercial minibus).
The video, recorded by a fan from the back seat, sparked surprise and admiration, as many expressed disbelief that the national team’s first-choice goalkeeper was commuting via public transport.
Mugabe Maase’s gesture has been widely applauded, with many describing it as a timely and commendable move to recognize and motivate local football talent.
