Bibiani GoldStars have officially appointed 37-year-old Greek tactician Petros Koukouras as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The club announced the appointment as preparations gather pace for the new campaign, with Koukouras expected to lead the Miners into a new era following the departure of Swiss trainer Fritz Markus Schmid.
Schmid officially left Bibiani GoldStars early this month after taking charge of the club during the second half of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Despite his relatively young age, Koukouras brings a wealth of coaching experience gained across East Africa. He began his managerial career with Uganda’s Pacific Heroes FC before serving as assistant coach of the South Sudan National Team.
He later took charge of Ugandan football giants SC Villa Jogoo, where he earned praise for his tactical discipline, leadership and commitment to player development.
In July 2023, the Greek coach moved to Rwanda to become head coach of Kiyovu Sports, where he continued to build his reputation as one of the promising young European coaches working on the African continent.
A holder of the UEFA A Licence, Koukouras is known for his modern coaching philosophy, tactical organisation and emphasis on developing young talent.
His appointment is expected to inject fresh ideas into the Bibiani GoldStars setup as the club aims to remain competitive in the Ghana Premier League and achieve its objectives for the upcoming season.
Club officials are confident that Koukouras’ international experience and technical expertise will help strengthen the team and continue the club’s progress.
