Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has admitted that his team was full of confidence and energy heading into their match against Accra Lions, but the outcome didn’t go as planned as they suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat in Accra.
Speaking after the match, Coach Ogum revealed that although his players may be feeling some fatigue, the technical team is ensuring they are well-managed in all aspects.
“It may be that they are fatigued somehow, but then we are managing them well physiologically, psychologically—we are managing them very well,” he said.
“It is all about focus in games like this. Before the game, we looked very energetic, very confident, knowing very well we were going to play very well and get the maximum points. But then the dynamics changed,” he added.
The Porcupine Warriors had gone into the fixture hoping to bounce back after two consecutive draws in the Ghana Premier League, but they struggled to match the intensity of Accra Lions, who are battling to avoid relegation.
As a result, Kotoko has slipped to third on the league table with 47 points after 27 matches. Nations FC now holds the second spot with 48 points, intensifying the battle at the top of the table.
Kotoko will be aiming to recover from the setback when they face Nations FC in a crucial encounter that could have significant implications on the title race.
