A fire almost destroyed three bedrooms at Madina Estate, a suburb of Bibiani, within the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

The incident, which occurred earlier today, May 6,2025, was narrowly contained thanks to the swift intervention of local residents and the Bibiani Fire Service.

The fire caused significant damage to several household items, including a fridge, cutlery sets, plastic chairs and tables, and the ceiling. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control before it could spread further.

Akedama Mahama, the landlord of the affected property, recounted the events, stating he was informed of the fire via a distress call.

Upon arriving at the scene, he immediately contacted the Bibiani Fire Service Command for assistance. Meanwhile, neighbours played a crucial role in trying to contain the flames until the fire service arrived.

“I received a call that my house was on fire. When I got there, I immediately contacted the fire service, and my neighbours also helped to control the fire. We are thankful that the damage wasn’t worse,” Mahama explained.

In a related development, Shine Kwame Akakpo, the Assistant Station Officer at the Bibiani Fire Service Command, took the opportunity to advise the public on fire safety.

He urged residents to ensure all electrical appliances and gadgets are switched off when leaving their homes or offices to prevent such incidents.

“It’s important for everyone to be vigilant and switch off all electrical appliances and gadgets when leaving their homes or offices. This simple act can help prevent unfortunate incidents like this one,” said Akakpo.

The fire service has called on the public to remain cautious and take necessary fire safety precautions to prevent future accidents.
