The Member of Parliament for Suaman Constituency, Frederick Gilbert Addy, has officially launched the “One Community, One Borehole” initiative aimed at addressing the persistent issue of water scarcity in the area.
Frederick Gilbert Addy described the initiative as a fulfillment of a promise he made to his constituents, emphasizing his commitment to providing clean, safe, and accessible drinking water to every community in the constituency.
“As part of the first phase of this project, borehole construction has already started in Sonitra, Bediabeng, Suibo Junction, Apraku, and Gyampokrom. Additionally, two more boreholes are being constructed in Karlo,” he announced on Facebook cited by Sefwinews.
He explained that the initiative is not only about solving water problems but also about promoting fairness, health, and dignity in the constituency, especially for communities whose water sources have been polluted by illegal mining (galamsey) activities.
“This is a big step forward in solving the long-standing problem of water scarcity in our area. But this initiative is about more than just water. It is about fairness, health, and restoring dignity,” he said.
He called on all stakeholders, development partners, and community members to support the project and work together towards achieving the goal of making clean water accessible to all residents of Suaman and beyond.
“With your continued prayers and support, I am determined to end water scarcity, especially in the most affected communities,” he added.
He concluded with a powerful reminder: “Water is life. Let us make it accessible to all.”
