The government, through the National Youth Authority (NYA), is set to officially launch the National Apprenticeship Program in the Western North Region this August.
The initiative, which aims to equip the youth with practical vocational skills and create sustainable jobs, will begin with the training and accreditation of the first batch of Master Craft Persons (MCPs).
From 20th to 22nd August 2025, selected Master Craft Persons (MCPs) will undergo intensive accreditation and refresher training at the Sefwi Wiawso College of Education (WATICO) Auditorium. The program seeks to certify MCPs, enhance their skills, and equip them to effectively mentor apprentices.
The accreditation exercise will be followed by the official Apprentice Matriculation on 23rd August 2025 at the Methodist Park, Sefwi Dwinase Kokokrom.
This event will mark the formal enrollment of apprentices who will be attached to the trained and accredited MCPs for hands-on learning and skill development.
According to the NYA, the program will be implemented in phases across the country to ensure inclusiveness and effectiveness. Authorities have urged all potential Master Craft Persons who are yet to register to do so in order to benefit from the next phase of the recruitment process.
The National Apprenticeship Program is expected to be a game-changer in addressing youth unemployment by promoting vocational training and entrepreneurship.
It also seeks to raise the standards of craftsmanship in Ghana by ensuring that MCPs are well-trained and accredited before mentoring apprentices.
The Regional Secretariat of the National Youth Authority in Western North has been designated as the main point of contact for enquiries and further information.
Interested persons are encouraged to reach out for guidance on registration and participation.
