The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has cautioned the people of the region to be on high alert against fraudulent activities surrounding the upcoming Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.
In a statement issued through his spokesperson, Benjamin Afram Kwabena, the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, said he had received reports of fraudsters trying to take money from applicants and their families with promises of recruitment.
He noted: “It has come to the attention of the Minister that certain unscrupulous individuals are attempting to defraud unsuspecting applicants and their families by demanding money with the promise of facilitating recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces.”
The Regional Minister strongly emphasized that recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is free of charge and no applicant is required to pay any fees.
He stated clearly: “The Regional Minister strongly emphasizes that no person is required to pay any amount of money whatsoever to be considered for enlistment. Recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is strictly based on merit, qualifications, ability, and meeting the set criteria—not on the payment of money to any individual.”
He further urged applicants and the general public to remain vigilant, warning them against falling prey to such fraudulent schemes.
“All applicants and the general public are, therefore, advised to remain vigilant and not fall victim to such fraudulent schemes. Anyone who demands money in connection with the recruitment process is acting illegally and should be reported immediately to the security agencies,” the Minister cautioned.
Reiterating government’s commitment to a fair and transparent recruitment process, the Office of the Regional Minister assured the public that due process will be followed in selecting successful applicants.
The statement emphasized: “The Office of the Regional Minister further assures the public that the government remains committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, and credible recruitment process for all qualified Ghanaians.”
The release concluded with a call for collective vigilance, urging citizens to protect themselves against fraud.
“Let us all remain alert and protect ourselves from fraud,” the statement concluded.
