The Western North Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indefinitely suspended the Electoral Area Executives Committee Elections in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency following reports of alleged interference, intimidation, and procedural irregularities.
The decision was announced in an official statement dated June 9, 2026, and addressed to the Constituency Chairman of the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency.
According to the statement signed by the Western North Regional Chairman, Benjamin Armah, the Regional Executive Committee took the decision after receiving reports concerning activities that could potentially undermine the credibility and integrity of the electoral process within the constituency.
The statement revealed that the Regional Executive Committee met and deliberated extensively on the matter before arriving at the decision to suspend the elections with immediate effect.
“In the interest of fairness, justice, and the integrity of our party’s internal processes, the Regional Executive Committee has decided to suspend the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency Electoral Area Executives Committee elections with immediate effect,” the statement indicated.
The Regional Executive Committee emphasized that the suspension will remain in force until further notice. It further disclosed that the party’s national leadership will conduct a thorough review of the situation before a new date for the elections is announced.
The development comes as the NPP continues its nationwide internal reorganization process aimed at electing executives at various levels of the party structure.
Electoral Area Executive Committee elections are considered a critical component of the party’s grassroots organizational framework, as they help shape the leadership structure at the local level.
Party members and stakeholders within the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency have been urged to remain calm and exercise restraint while awaiting further directives from the Regional Secretariat.
The suspension is expected to affect all aspirants and delegates involved in the electoral process within the constituency until investigations and reviews by the national leadership are completed.
The Regional Executive Committee has assured party members that a new date for the Electoral Area Executives Committee Elections will be communicated in due course following the completion of the review process.
