Free Meal & Transport: “Youth safety was my top priority in the voter registration exercise” American-based Mining Engineer hints

Festus Bumagama Agyapong, an American-based Engineer, has stated that his foremost concern for offering free meals and transportation during the limited Voter Registration exercise was the well-being and safety of the youth.

During the crucial Limited Voter’s Registration period, Festus Bumagama Agyapong, one of the sons of the Paramount Chief of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II, hired vehicles to shuttle registrants from various communities within the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality to the Social Center, the designated registration site, daily.

Furthermore, he ensured that registrants were safely transported back to their homes once they had completed the registration process.

In addition to facilitating transportation, he went above and beyond by providing registrants a hearty breakfast and a nourishing lunch daily throughout the Limited Voter’s Registration period.

Festus Agyepong had earlier stated that the primary goal of these interventions is to simplify the EC registration process for young citizens who have recently turned eighteen but lack the means to travel and take part in the registration.

On the closure of the registration exercise on Monday, October 3, Nana Kwame Fosu, who spoke on behalf of Festus Bumagama Agyapong, emphasized the vital role of this initiative in safeguarding young registrants.

“As a native of this constituency, he felt a deep sense of responsibility to give back to his community. Ensuring that his fellow residents can exercise their right to vote without obstacles is a small but meaningful contribution to our democratic process.”

“He took it upon himself to provide meals for the children during the limited voter registration period, considering that many of them had traveled from distant locations.”

“These children often began queuing as early as 2 or 3 a.m., and without our provision of food, many of them would have gone without a meal,” he explained to Sefwinews.com.

He stated that their actions are purely motivated by genuine concern for the welfare and security of the young registrants, with no ulterior motives.

“The main aim of feeding those who came to register is their safety and no hidden ambition.”

On their part, residents of the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency were effusive in their appreciation for Agyapong’s support and many expressed their gratitude for the convenience and relief his assistance provided during the registration period.

Speaking to some beneficiaries of Festus Bumagama Agyapong’s generosity, they said his kindness made it easier for them to exercise their right to vote.

“We were able to register without worrying about how to get to the registration centers or having to go hungry while waiting in line,” they told Sefwinews.com.
