Bibiani Goldstars CEO condemns Kotoko fan’s tragic death, calls for justice

Bibiani Goldstars CEO, John Akwasi Adu, has expressed his devastation and shock over the tragic death of a Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan, popularly known as Pooley, who was killed at Nana koramansa Park in Nsoatre.

In an interview on Lawson Sports, Akwasi Adu extended his condolences to the bereaved family, particularly the parents and children of the deceased.

He described the incident as “condemnable and irresponsible” and emphasized that no one wants to see such violence at stadiums.

Akwasi Adu acknowledged that the incident is a significant blow to the Ghana Premier League, as it struggles to attract fans to stadiums.

He praised Pooley’s unwavering support for Kotoko, stating that his dedication and passion for the team are irreplaceable.

The CEO called for the perpetrator of the heinous crime to be arrested and prosecuted, leaving no room for impunity.

He expressed confidence that measures will be put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the future.

Akwasi Adu drew from his own experience, recalling an incident in 2012 when his team, Bibiani Goldstars, was punished for stadium violence.

He emphasized the importance of leadership in ensuring that stadiums remain safe and secure for all teams and fans.

In response to the tragedy, Akwasi Adu vowed that Bibiani Goldstars will make their home venue, Dun’s Park, a safe and secure venue for all teams, with a zero-tolerance policy for supporter violence and misconduct.
