Bibiani Goldstars defeat Salitas to retain Ogyeahohoo Cup

Bibiani GoldStars SC continued their dominance in the Ogyeahohoo Cup as they secured a 2-0 victory over Burkinabé side Salitas FC at Dun’s Park on Independence Day.

The Miners put on an impressive performance to retain the prestigious trophy, marking another milestone in their preparations ahead of the Ghana Premier League resumption.

The game started with high intensity as both teams looked to assert their dominance early on. GoldStars, playing in front of their home fans, controlled possession and created a number of scoring opportunities.

Their persistence paid off in the 36th minute when Abdul Farouk Amoaful broke the deadlock with a well-taken strike to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Despite Salitas FC’s attempts to respond, GoldStars remained solid at the back, frustrating the visitors with a disciplined defensive display.

In the second half, Coach Frimpong Manso made some tactical changes, introducing Samuel Atta Kumi, who made an immediate impact.

The substitute forward sealed the victory with a clinical finish, doubling the lead for GoldStars and putting the game beyond the reach of Salitas FC.

The triumph ensures Bibiani GoldStars SC maintain their stronghold on the Ogyeahohoo Cup, much to the delight of their passionate supporters. The win also serves as a confidence boost as they prepare for the resumption of the Ghana Premier League.

With the warm-up match successfully concluded, Bibiani GoldStars SC will now shift their focus to the Ghana Premier League, where they will host Nations FC on Sunday, March 9, at Dun’s Park.
