Bibiani Goldstars bounced back from their recent defeat to Asante Kotoko with a commanding 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea at Dun’s Park on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Goldstars broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute through a sensational free-kick by Gideon Anaba.
The goal opened the floodgates for the Miners, who maintained pressure on their visitors.
The second goal came in the form of an own goal in the 85th minute from Berekum Chelsea’s Seidu Mohammed, further sealing the victory for Gold Stars.
The win marked Goldstars’ third consecutive home triumph, propelling them to 30 points, level with league leaders Heart of Lions, who play on Sunday, January 5.
Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea, who have struggled in recent matches, remain winless in their last four games, sitting in 8th place with 19 points.
Looking ahead, Berekum Chelsea will be aiming for a positive result when they host Medeama in their next fixture, while Bibiani Goldstars will look to continue their impressive form as they travel to face Accra Lions in their next match.
