The President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohoo Gyebi II, has once again urged the government to prioritize the establishment of the Sefwi Bekwai/Chirano District.
This appeal comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance local development and ensure equitable distribution of resources in the area.
Notably, this is not the first time Ogyeahohoo Gyebi II has made such a plea. He previously advocated for the district’s creation during discussions with President Nana Akufo-Addo at his Palace in Sefwi Anhwiaso.
Emphasizing the importance of this initiative, he reiterated his call during a recent visit by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the regional capital, Sefwi Wiawso.
During the visit, which coincided with Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour, Ogyeahohoo Gyebi II highlighted the need for concerted efforts to facilitate the district’s establishment.
He expressed optimism in the Vice President’s commitment to the region’s development agenda and urged him to ensure that the proposal receives due consideration.
“Though you asked me to submit a letter to Dan Botwe, the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, do your best to secure the creation of the district when you are elected,” remarked Ogyeahohoo Gyebi II.
The Sefwi Bekwai/Chirano area, encompassing Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, boasts significant natural resources, including gold, timber, and cocoa.
Establishing a distinct administrative entity for this area could unlock its full potential and promote sustainable growth and prosperity.
