Sampson Ahi pledges cocoa processing factory for Western North

The Deputy Minister-Designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has promised to oversee the establishment of a cocoa processing company in the Western North region by the end of his tenure.

Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Ahi emphasised the importance of industrialisation in driving economic growth and job creation, particularly in Agric enclaves.

The move, according to him, aligns with the government’s broader agenda to boost local production, add value to raw materials, and create employment opportunities.

“As captured in the NDC manifesto, we will embark on industralisation. I will be happy to see that by the end of my tenure, we will have a cocoa processing company so that we will have cocoa beans processed.”

“I will also look at other areas where they have a competitive advantage with regards to farm produce so that many factories can be established for many of the farm produce to be processed,” he stated.
