The Western North Regional Minister, Mr. Willbert Petty Bretum, has issued a stern warning to contractors working on the Agenda 111 hospital project, cautioning them against removing building materials from construction sites.
Speaking on the issue, Mr. Bretum revealed that he has received reports alleging that some contractors are unlawfully taking materials from project sites.
While acknowledging that the government owes some of these contractors, he emphasized that this does not grant them the right to remove materials from the sites.
The minister described such actions as illegal and urged the contractors involved to visit his office for discussions regarding their concerns.
He reassured the contractors that the government remains committed to completing the projects and is actively working to resolve challenges that have affected progress.
The minister made these remarks in Adabokrom in the Bia East District after traditional leaders (Nananom) appealed for the completion of the hospital project in the area.
The Agenda 111 initiative, launched by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, aims to construct 111 hospitals across the country to improve the healthcare system.
In the Western North Region, three districts—Bodi, Suaman, and Bia East—were selected for the project. However, none of these hospitals have been completed yet.
Despite the delays, the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured the public that the government remains committed to finishing the projects.
