Western North: 27 Applicants undergo MMDCE vetting today

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced the vetting process for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the country, started on Monday, February 24, 2025, with the Volta Region.

Today, March 10, 2025, the process continues in Accra as 27 aspirants from the nine Municipal and District Assemblies in the Western North Region face the vetting committee at the party’s headquarters.

The NDC’s national vetting committee, chaired by the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, consists of key members, including the General Secretary, Mr. Fiifi Kwetey; Senior Presidential Advisor, Dr. Valerie Sawyer; Hon. Collins Dauda, MP for Asutifi South; Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, MP for Ho West; Hon. Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection; and Hon. Cletus Avoka, MP for Zebilla.

During the vetting process, the committee will assess candidates’ credentials, conduct background checks, and hold interviews. The most suitable aspirants will then be recommended to the President for nomination.

It is worth noting that to ensure a fair balance within the constituencies, candidates for the MMDCE position must not come from the same community as the sitting Member of Parliament.
