Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has cautioned her brother, Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, against disrupting the funeral and burial rites of their late father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
According to Adwoa Safo, the burial arrangements have received approval from the Manhyia Palace and are scheduled to take place at Gomoa Mpota on Thursday, July 30.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Tuesday, July 28, she warned that any attempt by her brother or his supporters to interfere with the funeral activities would breach the conditions of a bail bond requiring them to maintain good behaviour.
“I want to remind him and his thugs that they are under a bail bond, and that bond is to be of good behaviour,” she said.
She said the warning also applies to events scheduled at Independence Square on July 31 and Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on August 8.
“If they have any intention of coming there, or Independence Square on the 31st, or 8th of August in Kumasi, Prempeh Assembly Hall, to cause any mayhem, he should be reminded that he is under bond to be of good behaviour,” she added.
Adwoa Safo further disclosed that she has requested security support from law enforcement agencies to ensure the funeral events proceed peacefully.
“We have informed all the law enforcement agencies to provide us with the number of security men they can so that he and his thugs cannot come and shoot at me again, and this time, maybe God might not save me again,” she said.
Her comments come amid an ongoing dispute over the funeral arrangements for the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
While the Kristo Asafo Mission has stated that it has not been officially notified of any confirmed funeral or burial plans, Adwoa Safo insists the arrangements have received the necessary approval and will proceed as scheduled.
Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana and a renowned Ghanaian inventor and industrialist, died after decades of religious leadership and contributions to indigenous technology.
The disagreement over his final funeral rites has heightened tensions within the family.
