The Chief Executive Officer of Rutab Hub Centre, Ruth Akosua Mintah, has reaffirmed her commitment to empowering young women through skills development, describing it as her mission to help reduce unemployment, poverty, and teenage pregnancy in society.
Speaking about her entrepreneurial journey and the impact of her organization on Kro Yi Mu Nsem on Sefwinews, Madam Mintah revealed that she started her fashion business under a tree at her home but through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, she has grown into one of the most recognized fashion designers in the Western North Region.
According to her, skills training remains one of the most effective tools for transforming lives and creating opportunities for young people, especially women.
She noted that through Rutab Hub Centre and her foundation, dozens of vulnerable young women have been equipped with vocational and entrepreneurial skills to help them become self-reliant.
“I believe empowering young women through skills training is the best way to help them secure their future and support their families,” she stated.
Madam Mintah disclosed that her foundation has so far trained 62 young women in various skills including fashion design, soap making, beads making, shower gel production, and other income-generating ventures.
She explained that equipping young women with employable skills will significantly contribute to reducing teenage pregnancy and youth unemployment in the region.
The award-winning entrepreneur further announced that Rutab Hub Centre is currently undertaking a major project at Sefwi Boako, where a transition centre is being established with modern equipment and machines to train about 150 young women.
She expressed confidence that the project would create more opportunities for young women and position Sefwi Wiawso as a leading centre for fashion and vocational training in Ghana.
Madam Mintah also highlighted some of her achievements over the years, including receiving a GH¢50,000 support package from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in recognition of her hard work and dedication to entrepreneurship and community development.
She further revealed that she has participated in several entrepreneurship workshops and business development programmes through enterprise support organizations, which have contributed significantly to her growth.
In recognition of her outstanding contribution to the fashion industry, she recently received an African award as the Best Fashion Designer from Ghana’s Western North Region.
The Rutab Hub Centre CEO used the opportunity to encourage young entrepreneurs to register their businesses with the appropriate authorities to enable them access support from institutions such as the Youth Employment Agency and other development organizations.
She also disclosed that admission into Rutab Hub Centre is free and available through direct registration as well as through sponsorship from her foundation.
To broaden the knowledge of her trainees, she regularly invites institutions such as banks, the Ghana Health Service, and SSNIT to educate students on financial management, health, and social security issues.
Madam Mintah concluded by pledging to continue investing in skills training and entrepreneurship development to empower more young women and contribute to the socio-economic growth of the Western North Region.
