The Ministry of Health has officially welcomed a groundbreaking partnership between South Koreaโs GL RAPHA and Ghanaโs Quintex Pharma, aimed at establishing a cutting-edge biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Akuse.
The planned facility is expected to produce critical care injectable medicines locally, significantly reducing Ghanaโs dependency on pharmaceutical imports. It will also create over 560 skilled direct jobs, foster local pharmaceutical expertise through advanced training programs, and serve as a centre for technology transfer within the sub-region.
At a high-level investor engagement, the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, acknowledged the projectโs strategic alignment with Ghanaโs national development priorities.
He noted its relevance to strengthening pharmaceutical self-sufficiency, supporting the Governmentโs 24-Hour Economy policy, and advancing industrialisation within the health sector.
The initiative is set to enhance Ghanaโs capacity to respond swiftly to health emergencies and improve pharmaceutical exports under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and ECOWAS trade frameworks.
The GL RAPHAโQuintex Pharma collaboration represents a major step in Ghana-South Korea relations, leveraging innovation and industrial capacity to drive sustainable healthcare development.
The Ministry of Health has assured its full support to ensure the success and long-term impact of the project on both national and regional healthcare delivery.
