Frank Nelson Ackah, the Western North Regional President of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM), has expressed his appreciation to the Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, for a recent decision regarding ex-gratia payments to outgoing assembly members.
In a statement, Frank Nelson Ackah commended the Ministry for allowing various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to determine the amount for ex-gratia payments, describing it as a step in the right direction.
Frank Nelson Ackah who doubles as an Assembly Member for Asawinso ‘A’ Electoral Area in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, emphasized the importance of promptly settling all outstanding allowances, noting the unfairness caused by delays in payment.
“I applaud the Local Government Minister for empowering MMDAs to decide on ex-gratia payments, which is a positive move. However, I urge for quicker processing due to the unusual delays we have experienced. Additionally, it’s crucial that outstanding allowances are paid without further delay,” Frank Nelson Ackah stated.
As a seasoned politician and advocate for local government issues, he urged assembly members to trust GAAM and collaborate effectively for the development of their respective electoral areas.
“I call on everyone to place their full trust in us as we prioritize the welfare of our members,” he concluded.
