The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, Alfred Obeng-Boateng, has reiterated the commitment of the government to ensure that every community receives its fair share of development resources.
The legislator made this call during a community engagement with the chief and people of Ashiam, emphasizing the need for fair distribution of resources.
The chief of the community, Nana Yaw Manso III, expressed gratitude for the government’s interventions while urging authorities to address remaining challenges, particularly concerning youth employment and infrastructure.
Speaking at a community gathering, Alfred Obeng-Boateng emphasized that no community would be left out in the sharing of the national cake. He underscored the importance of inclusivity and fairness in resource allocation, stating that every community deserves its fair share of development projects and resources.
The MP also pledged to advocate for his constituency and ensure that their needs are prioritized in government planning and budgeting processes.
Responding to community concerns raised by the chief, Nana Yaw Manso III, Alfred Obeng-Boateng assured prompt action on requests for job creation, infrastructure completion, and the provision of essential services such as a police post and an ICT center.
However, Obeng-Boateng highlighted several development projects initiated by both the central government and local authorities, emphasizing their impact on the community.
These projects included the bituminous surfacing of a 12 km road from Bekwai to Ashiam, the installation of a telephone mast for improved telecommunication, and the construction of classrooms to enhance education infrastructure.
Furthermore, the MP outlined his personal contributions to the community, including financing the construction of a midwifery unit, facilitating youth employment in the security services, and providing essential equipment for infrastructure development.
In praising the government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, Alfred Obeng-Boateng commended its role in reducing the financial burden on parents and ensuring greater access to education for all.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to sustaining the policy despite global economic challenges, highlighting the doubling of the capitation grant to support education.
Addressing regional governance, the MP emphasized the benefits of the creation of six new regions, citing improved accessibility to government services for residents.
He urged civil servants, teachers, and national service personnel to advocate for the government’s continuity in the upcoming elections, emphasizing its positive impact on grassroots governance.
Accompanying the Member of Parliament during the engagement were key constituency executives, including the Constituency Organizer, Women Organizer, Communications Officer, and Nasara Coordinator, reaffirming the collaborative efforts towards community development.
