Festus Bumakama Agyapong, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Aspirant for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, has taken a bold step towards empowering women in the area by establishing a Livelihood Empowerment Fund.
The fund, launched on January 6, 2024, aims to support women in the constituency to expand and establish their businesses.
The “Women’s Endowment Fund” initiated by Festus Bumakama Agyapong comes with a substantial seed capital of GHC 100,000.00.
This financial boost is intended to be provided to women in the form of an interest-free loan, serving as a catalyst for their business growth within the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency.
The launch event, held at the Golden Gift Hotel in Punikrom, saw an atmosphere of joy and ecstasy among the women beneficiaries. The fund is designed with a 3-month moratorium, providing the women with a reasonable period to establish their businesses before commencing repayments.
Festus Bumakama Agyapong reiterated his unwavering commitment to the overall development of the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency and the economic well-being of its people.
The women in attendance commended his dedication to women’s empowerment and expressed optimism about the positive impact the fund would have on the entrepreneurial landscape within the constituency.
The NPP Women’s Wing, in a collective statement, hailed Festus Bumakama Agyapong for his foresight and dedication to uplifting women in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency.
They acknowledged the significance of the “Women’s Endowment Fund” in fostering economic independence and growth among the women in the community.
Subsequently, Festus Bumakama Agyapong clinches the top position on the ballot paper following a successful completion of the NPP’s Western North Regional vetting procedures, positioning him to compete in the parliamentary primaries scheduled for January 27.
