“We have indulged in politics, so politicians are manipulating us”-GAAM Prez

Frank Nelson Ackah, the National President of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) and the Assembly Member for the Asawinso ‘A’ Electoral Area in the Bibiani-Anwhiaso-Bekwai Municipality, has expressed concern over the deep involvement of assembly members in politics.

In an interaction with Sefwinews, he lamented how this political engagement has made it easier for politicians to manipulate assembly members.

Frank Nelson Ackah highlighted that many assembly members quickly agree to unhelpful proposals during assembly meetings due to their political affiliations.

He also hinted that some individuals attend these meetings primarily for the hundred-cedi sitting allowance, rather than for the genuine purpose of serving their communities.

“The deep indulgence in politics among assembly members has created an environment where politicians can easily manipulate us. Many of us hastily concord unhelpful proposals during meetings simply because of our political ties,” Frank stated.

He criticized the assembly members for contributing to their own problems through their actions and urged them to unite and set aside partisanship.

According to him, this unity is essential for fighting for a common agenda that benefits their communities.

“It is crucial for us to come together and do away with partisanship in our service. Only then can we effectively fight for a common agenda that truly serves the interests of our people,” Frank emphasized.
